Yoga For All

The course includes a 70 minute class and a series of short video tutorials of individual postures.

‘Yoga for All’ is a 70 minute yoga class designed for everybody from beginner to advanced.

At Hot Yoga Athlone our motto is ‘Yoga is for everyone, but we bend it for you!’. When we say this, we mean that yoga is for every body. Our class is for all body types, regardless of size, shape, age, experience and so on.

In this world of social media we are inundated with photos and videos of people with the ‘perfect’ bodies in various impressive yoga poses. It can be a little daunting and even off putting for those of us with not so ‘perfect’ body types. Bodies that bear the scars and injuries of life. Normal bodies with all those lumps and bumps that make us who we are.

I am 51 years old and am riddled with injuries from my time training horses. Those injuries are what introduced me to yoga and with consistent practice I keep those injuries at bay. In the beginning however, as I started to do regular practice, I believed I should always be pushing myself as far as possible. This resulted in my injuries returning because I did not listen to my body when it needed to take things slower. Through research, trial and error I realised the old saying ‘less is more’ was applicable in yoga. Do less but do it right.

That is what this online course achieves.

The course includes a 70 minute lesson and a series of short video tutorials of individual postures. Throughout the lesson I take time to clearly explain each and every movement, as well as alternative options for different body types and experience levels.

I will guide you through postures that will maintain the natural range of motion of the body. Working from the inside to the outside. Setting up the skeleton, the framework of the body, in correct alignment and then allowing all the soft tissue to work properly. Clear precise instructions will help you set up a posture correctly and then through the breath move slowly and carefully into it.

All you need is a yoga mat, a towel and a bottle of water. If you would like to have some heat wear some extra layers of stretching clothing or switch up the heat.
